Das Jahr 2025 hat begonnen und wir bitten euch, nehmt euch Zeit und engagiert euch für Leonard Peltiers Freiheit nach 49 Jahren Haft.
Bereits Anfang Dezember haben wir auf dieser Website, über Social Media, WhatsApp und per Email unseren Baukasten für Peltiers Freiheit vorgestellt. Bitte macht mit, möglichst bei allen 5 Modulen.

The year 2025 has begun and we ask you to take time and get involved for Leonard Peltier’s freedom after 49 years in prison. At the beginning of December, we presented our toolkit for Peltier’s freedom on this website, via social media, WhatsApp and email. Please participate, if possible in all 5 modules. Here is the text in German and English:
German: Wir wissen, dass ihr alle vor den Feiertagen viel zu tun habt. Arbeit, Familie, Politik. Wir wissen, dass in Deutschland sich alles auf den Wahlkampf konzentriert und daher Parlamente, Ausschüsse, Parteien und Politiker*innen schwer zu erreichen sind. Doch lassen wir nichts unversucht. Es geht um nichts geringeres als das Leben und Überleben Leonard Peltiers, der seit fast 49 Jahren als indigener politischer Gefangener inhaftiert ist. Seit fast einem halben Jahrhundert in Haft für Tatvorwürfe, die bis heute niemals seriös nachgewiesen werden konnten. Seit 1975 wider besseren Wissens beschuldigt für einen Gewaltexzess, den vor allem Behörden der US-Regierung selbst in Gang gesetzt hatten. Leonard Peltier ist schwer krank, in nahezu permanentem Dauereinschluss sozial isoliert, medizinisch nicht adäquat versorgt und wenn er nicht jetzt begnadigt wird dazu verdammt lebendig in der Haft zu vermodern. Drastische Worte, doch die Realität ist nicht weniger mörderisch wie bei Nawalny. Nur ist das Leiden und langsame Sterben Peltiers in vielen Medien kein Thema.
Wenn wir hier WIR schreiben, so steht dies für unsere Organisation TOKATA-LPSG RHEINMAIN, für die Mitgliedsprojekte der European Alliance for the Self Determination of Indigenous PeopleS (7 Organisationen aus 4 europäischen Staaten) sowie die meisten Gruppen und Organisationen der Europe for Peltier Coalition (11 Gruppen/Organisationen aus 7 europäischen Staaten).

Was wir wissen ist, dass Joe Biden mehr als frühere Präsidenten sehr offen für indigene Belange ist. Wir wissen, dass die Noch-Innenministerin Deb Haaland eine wichtige Rolle in dieser Politik Bidens einnimmt.
Wir wissen die US-amerikanische Politik sehr wohl realistisch einzuschätzen. Doch im Kampf um Leonard Peltiers Freiheit appellieren wir, sich nicht auf konfrontative Strategien zu fokussieren. Der Schlüssel für Peltiers Freiheit und Gesundheit liegt nun wirklich nicht in Hand einer bewegungsblasenmäßigen Strategie. Also macht mit, nutzt unsere fünf Baukasten-Elemente, sucht für eure Staaten entsprechende Adressen heraus und wendet euch an diese. Sendet uns die ausgefülletn Download-Unterschiftenlisten schnellsmöglich zurück, damit wir daraus ein Paket schnüren können.

Anbei zum Downloaden zwei Texte im Word-Format (deutsch und englisch), die entweder so übernommen oder aber natürlich nun auch ganz einfach verändert werden können. Baustein 2: Schreiben an deutsche Politiker*innen und Ausschüsse
Wir haben auch hier einen weiteren Mustertext aufgesetzt, der u.a. online an das Auswärtige Amt (Außenministerium), an die Menschenrechtsbeauftragte der Bundesregierung und an den Ausschuss für Menschenrechte und humanitäre Hilfen versendet werden kann. Und auch hier gilt wieder: dies ist ein Musterbrief. Wirkungsvoller sind eigene Worte. Aber gerne der den Text als Orientierung genommen, umgebaut, gekürzt, durch persönliche Note ergänzt werden. Bei bestimmten Kontaktformularen ist auf die maximale Zeichenzahl zu achten. Das bedeutet, dass wir für das Kontaktformular der Außenministerin einen kürzeren Text verfasst haben, den wir unten gesondert anfügen. Bei Briefen oder Emails an die drei genannten Empfänger gibt es textmäßig keine Begrenzung, aber auch hier sollten Briefe oder Emails nicht zu lang sein. Bitte auf freundliche Formulierungen achten.

Baustein 3: Postkarten-Kampagne 100.000 und mehr Postkarten für Peltiers Freiheit an das Weiße Haus
Seit Juni 2021 sind 100.000 Karten für Peltiers Freiheit gedruckt worden. Gruppen/Organisationen/Menschen aus über 16 Nationen nehmen an der Aktion teil, mehrere zehntausend Karten haben bereits das WEISSE HAUS erreicht. Wir haben noch Karten übrig und die können bei uns schleunigst bestellt werden -gratis oder auch gegen Spende- nur bestellt, bestellt, bestellt und sendet die Karten unterschrieben ab. Es wäre eine tolle und auch in den USA beeindruckende Promo, wenn wir die 100.000 Karten – Marke erreichen können. Und am 9.12. könnte die Aktion nochmals um weitere 15.000 Karten anwachsen. Wir haben die Unterschriftenliste aktualisiert und auf unsere Homepage zwecks Download hochgeladen. Also einfach downloaden, ausdrucken, unterschreiben und unterschreiben lassen (in Familie, Betrieb, Schule, Uni, im Freundes- und Bekannten-/Verwandtenkreis usw.). We know that you all have a lot to do before the holidays. Work, family, politics. We know that in Germany everything is focused on the election campaign and that parliaments, committees, parties and politicians are therefore difficult to reach. But we are leaving no stone unturned. At stake is nothing less than the life and survival of Leonard Peltier, who has been imprisoned as an indigenous political prisoner for almost 49 years. For almost half a century in prison for charges that have never been seriously proven to this day. Since 1975, against better knowledge, accused of an act of violence that was mainly initiated by US government authorities themselves. Leonard Peltier is seriously ill, socially isolated in almost permanent detention, not receiving adequate medical care, and if he is not pardoned now, he is doomed to rot alive in prison. Drastic words, but the reality is no less murderous than for Nawalny. It’s just that Peltier’s suffering and slow death is not an issue in many media outlets.
When we write WE here, we do so on behalf of our organization TOKATA-LPSG RHEINMAIN, the member projects of the European Alliance for the Self Determination of Indigenous PeopleS (7 organizations from 4 European states) and most of the groups and organizations in the Europe for Peltier Coalition (11 groups/organizations from 7 European states).
Please use our campaign toolbox and our online petition. For the latter, we will be sending DEEPL text translations in English, French and Italian in the next few days.
Please send this and especially the AVAAZ petition to your mailing list on a massive scale: friends, family, colleagues, comrades….. Advertise it, also for the postcard campaign. Of 100,000 cards sent to the White House, the last 4,000 are waiting for takers – for free. Let’s flood the White House with emails, phone calls, letters, postcards, online petitions…
What we do know is that Joe Biden, more than previous presidents, is very open to indigenous concerns. We know that Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland plays an important role in this policy.
We know how to realistically assess U.S. policy. But in the fight for Leonard Peltier’s freedom, we appeal not to focus on confrontational strategies. The key to Peltier’s freedom and health really does not lie in a movement-bubble strategy. So join in, use our five building blocks, find the appropriate addresses for your states and contact them. Send us the completed download signature lists as soon as possible so that we can put them together into a package.

Step 2: Writing to German politicians and committees
We have also created a sample text that can be sent online to the German Foreign Office (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), to the Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid at the Federal Foreign Office and to the Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid. Again, this is a sample letter. Your own words will be more effective. But feel free to use the text as a guide, modify it, shorten it, add a personal touch. Please note that some contact forms have a maximum number of characters. This means that we have written a shorter text for the Foreign Minister’s contact form, which we have attached separately below. There is no limit to the length of letters or emails to the three recipients mentioned, but here too, letters or emails should not be too long. Please use friendly wording.

Step 3: Postcard campaign 100,000 postcards and more to the White House for Peltier’s freedom
100,000 postcards for Peltier’s freedom have been printed since June 2021. Groups/organizations/people from over 16 nations are taking part in the campaign, and tens of thousands of postcards have already reached the White House. We still have cards left and these can be ordered from us as quickly as possible – free of charge or in return for a donation – just order, order, order and send the signed cards. It would be a great and also in the USA impressive promo if we could reach the 100,000 card mark. And on December 9, the action could grow again by another 15,000 cards.
