Als wir 2021 mit der Postkarten-Aktion ganz klein anfingen, erst an einem Mahnwachenstand mit wenigen Handprints und dann bereits im Sommer 2021 mit einer Auflage von über 50.000 Exemplaren hätte keiner gedacht, dass sich bis heute Gruppen und Organisationen, indigene Gemeinden und engagierte Bürger*innen aus über 16 Staaten an der Kampagne beteiligen. Im Laufe der Jahre haben sich die Texte zwar etwas verändert, aber die Karte findet bis heute weiterhin ihren Weg ins Weiße Haus.Und in den kommenden Tagen, zur Hochphase der Clemency Campaign, in der wir den scheidenden U.S.Präsidenten Joseph Biden um Freiheit für Peltier bitten, dürften wieder tausende Karten in Washington DC eintreffen.

Nach dem wir im Rahmen von Leonard Peltiers 80. Geburtstag die Auflage von 67.000 auf 100.000 Exemplare gesteigert hatten, steigern wir sie nun erneut um weitere 20.000 Karten auf insgesamt 120.000 Karten. Und wir können mit Gewissheit sagen, dass zehntausende der Karten auch abgeschickt wurden. Den erneuten Nachdruck konnten wir dank eines Zuschusses der ROTEN HILFE realisieren. Am Freitag, den 20.12.2024 werden 23.100 Karten der Gesamtauflage der jungen Welt beiliegen. Um dies auch zu bewerben hat uns die jW für den 18.12. Platz für eine Gratisanzeige eingeräumt. Und natürlich gibt es noch einige Karten, die bei uns bestellt werden können – gratis. Wer diese Aktion, die uns erneut knapp 2000 € kostet (da kommt der Zuschuss der RH noch hinzu) unterstützen möchte, kann dies gerne durch eine Spende tun. Gebt als Verwendungszweck einfach LP an.

When we started the postcard campaign very small in 2021, first at a vigil stand with a few handprints and then in the summer of 2021 with a print run of over 50,000 copies, nobody would have thought that groups and organisations, indigenous communities and committed citizens from over 16 countries would still be involved in the campaign today. Over the years, the texts have changed somewhat, but the card continues to find its way to the White House to this day, and in the coming days, at the height of the Clemency Campaign, when we are asking outgoing U.S. President Joseph Biden for freedom for Peltier, thousands of cards are likely to arrive in Washington DC again. After increasing the print run from 67,000 to 100,000 copies for Leonard Peltier’s 80th birthday, we are now increasing it again by a further 20,000 cards to a total of 120,000 cards. And we can say with certainty that tens of thousands of the cards have been sent out. We were able to realise this further increase thanks to a grant from ROTEN HILFE. On Friday, 20 December 2024, 23,100 cards will be included in the total circulation of Newspaper Die junge Welt. To advertise this, jW has given us space for a free advert for 18 December. And of course there are still some cards that can be ordered from us – free of charge. Anyone who would like to support this campaign, which will again cost us almost €2000 (plus the subsidy from the RH), is welcome to make a donation. Simply state LP as the intended purpose.

Quando nel 2021 abbiamo iniziato la campagna delle cartoline in piccolo, prima in una veglia con alcune impronte di mani e poi nell’estate del 2021 con una tiratura di oltre 50.000 copie, nessuno avrebbe pensato che ancora oggi gruppi e organizzazioni, comunità indigene e cittadini impegnati di oltre 16 Paesi sarebbero stati coinvolti nella campagna. Nel corso degli anni, i testi sono leggermente cambiati, ma la cartolina continua a giungere alla Casa Bianca e nei prossimi giorni, al culmine della campagna di clemenza, quando chiederemo al Presidente uscente Joseph Biden la libertà per Peltier, è probabile che migliaia di cartoline arrivino nuovamente a Washington DC. Dopo aver aumentato la tiratura da 67.000 a 100.000 copie per l’80° compleanno di Leonard Peltier, ora la stiamo aumentando di altre 20.000 carte per un totale di 120.000 carte. E possiamo dire con certezza che decine di migliaia di cartoline sono state spedite. Abbiamo potuto realizzare questo ulteriore aumento grazie a una sovvenzione di ROTEN HILFE. Venerdì 20 dicembre 2024, 23.100 cartoline saranno incluse nella tiratura totale del giornale Die junge Welt. Per pubblicizzarlo, jW ci ha concesso uno spazio per un annuncio gratuito per il 18 dicembre. E naturalmente ci sono ancora delle cartoline che possono essere ordinate gratuitamente. Chiunque voglia sostenere questa campagna, che ci costerà ancora una volta quasi 2.000 euro (più la sovvenzione della RH), è invitato a fare una donazione. Basta indicare la LP come scopo.
